Projektbeschreibung

Abstract

Due to information deficits, lack of expertise on connections, details, combination possibilities and uncertainties regarding durability and costs, there are major obstacles in the use of regenerative building materials such as wood fibre materials, hemp, straw, clay, lime, sheep wool etc. among clients, building authorities, planners and processors. Nevertheless: The demand for these materials, the necessity of their use (bio-economy and recycling management) is increasing, but planning aids are hardly available!

In the innovation network natuREbuilt, experts from planning and executing companies as well as science join forces with the aim of reducing these obstacles and thus promoting the use of ecological construction methods in large-volume new construction and renovation. Building products, components and systems made of renewable, recyclable and regional raw materials are considered in an interdisciplinary way in the consortium, good-practice examples are collected, uncertainties are removed by scientific, building physics investigations, innovative, resilient constructions are developed, digitalised suitable for BIM and implemented in existing databases. Primary goal is
- the development of ecological constructions for multi-storey building construction and the provision of validated characteristic values for building physics in order to establish safety for the application
- and the development and establishment of a regional innovation hub for ecological construction in the "Vienna Region" (Lower Austria, W, Bgld.) along the economic value chain.

In a first step, existing knowledge within and outside the consortium will be collected. Ecological constructions already used in practice are cooperatively analysed and evaluated, uncertainties are identified and research and development needs are pointed out. The focus of the project is primarily on the development of innovative combinations of regenerative building materials in order to enable new and as robust (= fault-tolerant) constructions as possible, both for new buildings and for renovation (combinations with conventional building materials). These will be developed with existing knowledge, examined in terms of building physics (hygrothermal: in-situ on an outdoor test stand, in the laboratory and by means of simulation, sound insulation, fire behaviour), evaluated for their recyclability and digitalised and disseminated in a BIM-compatible way.

The collected findings and designs are combined in a planning toolkit, validated data from the investigations are fed into planning tools and a dissemination and communication strategy for the entire industry is developed. At the end of the project, the innovation network should be sustainably established and a concept for the following years should be available.
