EU MISSIONS meet eLTER-RI: FAIR data at Lehrforst Rosalia for waters and soil

Projektbeschreibung

Mit der Einbindung eines spezialisierten Datenmanagers werden wir die Dateninfrastruktur des Lehrforsts Rosalia als eLTER RI-Standort konsolidieren und zukunftsweisend weiterentwickeln. Dieses Projekt ermöglicht eine umfassende und nahtlose Integration der Geosphäre, Atmosphäre, Hydrosphäre, Biosphäre und Sozio-Ökonosphäre im Sinne eines ganzheitlichen Ökosystemansatzes. Ein innovatives und strukturiertes Datenmanagementkonzept wird entwickelt und implementiert, das automatisierte Prozesse für Datenerfassung, -übertragung, Qualitätssicherung (QA/QC) und Visualisierung sicherstellt. Dadurch werden die Daten nicht nur direkt für zentrale Dienste (eLTER RI) zugänglich, sondern auch für die breite Öffentlichkeit – mit besonderem Fokus auf Citizen Science und die Third Mission. Alle Daten werden gemäß den FAIR-Prinzipien (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) behandelt und in führende Open-Science-Initiativen integriert. Die Aktivitäten sind eng mit der Umsetzung der Datenabläufe von LTER Austria sowie der Anbindung an die europäische Forschungsinfrastruktur verknüpft. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Integration der Daten in die eLTER RI-Datenflüsse, wodurch sämtliche Datenmanagementanforderungen für eLTER RI Super Sites erfüllt werden können.

Abstract

By integrating a dedicated data manager, we will consolidate and advance the data infrastructure of the Rosalia Teaching Forest as an eLTER RI site. This project will enable a seamless and comprehensive integration of the geosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and socio-economosphere, following a holistic ecosystem approach. An innovative and structured data management concept will be developed and implemented, ensuring automated workflows for data collection, transmission, quality assurance (QA/QC), and visualization. This will make the data directly accessible to central services (eLTER RI) and the general public, with a special emphasis on Citizen Science and the Third Mission. All data will adhere to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and be integrated into leading Open Science initiatives. The activities are closely aligned with the implementation of data workflows from LTER Austria and the connection to the European research infrastructure. Notably, the integration of data into eLTER RI flows will ensure full compliance with all data management requirements for eLTER RI Super Sites.
