Projektbeschreibung

Die Allianz WärmeZukunft ist Österreichs neues Innovationslabor für die nachhaltige Transformation des Wärme- und Kältesektors mit dem Ziel, den Wandel hin zu klimaneutralen, sozial gerechten und wirtschaftlich tragfähigen Lösungen aktiv voranzutreiben. Österreich setzt damit neue Maßstäbe und stärkt seine Rolle als europäischer Vorreiter der Wärmewende.

Das Labor bündelt gezielt technologische, soziale, wirtschaftliche und regulatorische Innovationen zu einem integrierten, systemischen Ansatz. Der Innovationsgehalt liegt dabei nicht in einer einzelnen Technologie, sondern in der systemischen Organisation von Innovation: Erst durch die Vernetzung von sechs thematischen Innovationsfeldern, der Mitwirkung von international anerkannten österreichischen Forschungsinstitutionen, der engen Einbindung von Marktakteuren und Stakeholdern werden wahre Leuchtturmprojekte möglich. Ergänzt wird dies durch einen intensiven Wissenstransfer zwischen Forschung, Markt und Gesellschaft.

Kern des Innovationslabors ist ein lernendes, zirkuläres Innovationsmodell, das technologische Trends, gesellschaftliche Bedarfe und regulatorische Entwicklungen kontinuierlich aufgreift und rasch in konkrete Projekte übersetzt. Das Labor bietet vielfältige Serviceangebote, darunter strategische Beratung, Machbarkeitsanalysen, Matchmaking-Events, Bedarfserhebungen, Stakeholder-Analysen, Impactcoaching sowie Unterstützung bei der Entwicklung marktfähiger Geschäftsmodelle. So werden Markteintrittsbarrieren gesenkt und der Transfer innovativer Lösungen in die Praxis deutlich beschleunigt.

Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf der gezielten Verwertung und Marktüberleitung der entwickelten Projektergebnisse. Schon bei der Projektkonzeption werden Skalierbarkeit und reale Umsetzungsbedingungen systematisch berücksichtigt. Eine intensive Zusammenarbeit und regelmäßige Abstimmung mit allen relevanten Akteuren des gesamten Innovationsökosystems – u.a. Städten und Gemeinden, regionalen Energieagenturen, Investoren, Verwaltung und politischen Entscheidungsträger:innen – sichern die optimale Verwertbarkeit der Ergebnisse und deren nachhaltige Integration in bestehende Markt- und Förderstrukturen.

Durch internationale Vernetzung und Zusammenarbeit werden zudem europäische Innovationen aufgegriffen und auf österreichische Rahmenbedingungen übertragen. Ein gezieltes, systematisches Impactcoaching und Monitoring stellt sicher, dass die entwickelten Lösungen echte Wirkung entfalten und aktiv zur Erreichung der Klimaziele beitragen.

Die Allianz WärmeZukunft wird gemeinsam von der Forschungsinitiative Green Energy Lab und der Forschungseinrichtung AEE INTEC getragen. Mit ihrer umfassenden Expertise in der Entwicklung innovativer Lösungen für ein nachhaltiges Energiesystem bilden die Organisationen das starke Fundament dieses zukunftsweisenden Innovationsökosystems in der Wärmewende.

Abstract

The Allianz WärmeZukunft (Heat Future Alliance) is Austria's new innovation lab dedicated to sustainably transforming the heating and cooling sector, actively advancing solutions that are climate-neutral, socially equitable, and economically viable. With this initiative, Austria is setting new benchmarks and reinforcing its role as a European leader in the energy transition for heating and cooling.

The lab specifically integrates technological, social, economic, and regulatory innovations into a holistic, systemic approach. Its innovative power does not lie in any single technology but in the systematic organisation of innovation itself: through the integration of six thematic innovation areas, involvement of internationally recognised Austrian research institutions, and close collaboration with market actors and stakeholders, truly groundbreaking lighthouse projects are made possible. This is complemented by intensive knowledge transfer between research, industry, and society.

At the core of the innovation lab is an adaptive, circular innovation model that continuously captures technological trends, societal needs, and regulatory developments, rapidly translating them into tangible projects. The lab offers a broad spectrum of tailored services, including strategic consulting, feasibility studies, matchmaking events, needs assessments, stakeholder analysis, impact coaching, and support in developing market-ready business models. This significantly lowers market-entry barriers and accelerates the transfer of innovative solutions into real-world practice.

A special focus lies on effectively exploiting and transferring the project's outcomes to the market. Scalability and practical implementation conditions are systematically considered from the very start of project conception. Intensive collaboration and continuous coordination with all key actors of the innovation ecosystem—including cities and municipalities, regional energy agencies, investors, administration, and policymakers—ensure optimal usability and sustainable integration of results into existing market and funding structures.

Through international networking and cooperation, European innovations are adapted to Austrian conditions. A targeted, systematic impact-coaching and monitoring approach ensures developed solutions have a tangible effect, actively contributing towards climate targets.

The Allianz WärmeZukunft is jointly supported by the Green Energy Lab research initiative and the AEE INTEC research institute. With their extensive expertise in the development of innovative solutions for a sustainable energy system, the organizations form the strong foundation of this forward-looking innovation ecosystem in the heating transition.
