Kurzfassung

Ausgangssituation und Bedarf:
Veränderte Lebensbedingungen haben Auswirkungen auf die Bedürfnisse der SchülerInnen (vor allem im Rahmen der Ganztagsbetreuung) und die Erwartungen an die pädagogische Arbeit steigen stetig. Die besondere Funktion des Raumes als „dritter Pädagoge“ (Malaguzzi) findet bislang wenig Beachtung, obwohl die Praxis deutlich zeigt, dass Struktur und Gestaltung von Räumen Einfluss auf das Lernverhalten und die Lernergebnisse hat, ebenso wie das Arbeiten in kreativen und künstlerischen Prozessen. Schulräume als nachhaltige Lebensräume kreativ zu denken und zu gestalten ist daher ebenso ein Merkmal innovativer Bildungslandschaften wie öffentliche Räume als Wissens- und Bildungsräume des Alltags zu interpretieren und zu nutzen.

Das hier vorgestellten Vorhaben, in der Per-Albin-Hansson-Siedlung ein innovatives und nachhaltiges Bildungsgrätzl zu schaffen, nimmt auch Bezug auf Bedarfe, wie sie u. a. im Rahmen der Internationalen Bauausstellung IBA_Wien erhoben wurden (u. a. Verbesserung der Infrastrukturausstattung für Kinder und Jugendliche, Verankerung von zusätzlichen Bildungs-, Kultur- und sozialen Angeboten).

Zielsetzungen:
Aufbau eines mobilen Aktivierungs-Labors (Bus-Labor) als Dreh- und Anlaufstelle für Innovationsvorhaben: Einbindung relevanter Stakeholder und Sensibilisierung für räumliche Themenstellungen mittels künstlerischer und kreativer Vermittlungsangebote, um sie sprach- und handlungsfähig zu machen, sie in den Innovations- und auf Beteiligungsprozess miteinzubeziehen und Eigenwirksamkeit zu ermöglichen.
Aufbau von Schulraum-Laboren in und mit den Partnerschulen, um innovative pädagogische und räumliche Konzepte zusammenzudenken und -bringen. Ziel ist es, mittels schulspezifischer und bedarfsorientierter partizipativer Prozesse innovative Schulraum-Settings für die bestehenden Räume zu entwickeln.
Aufbau eines Grätzl-Labors: Ziel ist es, bereits bestehende Nachbarschaftsnetzwerke und Angebote im Grätzl (Räume, Aktivitäten, Initiativen) zu bündeln und im Laufe des Prozesses einen Leerstand als Grätzllabor-Raum für Kreativnutzungen zu gestalten und zu betreiben (innovative Unterrichtsgestaltung, Nachmittagsbetreuung, generationenübergreifendes Lernen uvm.).

Nutzen:
Mit diesem Innovationslabor werden nutzerInnenzentrierte Denk-, Handlungs- und Gestaltungsräume, die in bestehenden Strukturen bislang fehlten, partizipativ entwickelt, modellhaft implementier und getestet. Die daraus resultierenden Synergien und konkreten räumlichen Angebote haben unmittelbaren Nutzen für die umliegenden Schulen und auch für andere InteressentInnengruppen im Grätzl, da sie niederschwellig, transparent und diskriminierungsfrei zugänglich gestaltet werden. Mit den über den laufenden Betrieb und im Rahmen von Innovationsvorhaben gewonnenen Erfahrungen können weitere Standorte für Innovationsvorhaben aktiviert werden.

Initial situation and need:
Changing living conditions have an impact on the needs of pupils (especially in the context of all-day care) and the expectations for pedagogical work are constantly increasing. The special function of space as a "third pedagogue" (Malaguzzi) has received little attention so far, although practice clearly shows that structure and design of spaces have an impact on learning behavior and outcomes, as well as working in creative and artistic processes. Thinking and designing school spaces creatively as sustainable living spaces is therefore as much a feature of innovative educational landscapes as interpreting and using public spaces as knowledge and educational spaces of everyday life.

The project presented here, to create an innovative and sustainable educational district in the Per-Albin-Hansson-Siedlung, also refers to needs as they were identified, among others, in the context of the International Building Exhibition IBA_Vienna (among others, improvement of the infrastructure equipment for children and youth, anchoring of additional educational, cultural and social offers).

Objectives:
Establishment of a mobile activation lab (bus lab) as a hub and contact point for innovation projects: Involvement of relevant stakeholders and sensitization for spatial issues by means of artistic and creative mediation offers in order to make them capable of speaking and acting, to include them in the innovation and participation process and to enable self-efficacy.
Establishment of school space labs in and with the partner schools in order to think and bring together innovative pedagogical and spatial concepts. The goal is to develop innovative school space settings for existing spaces through school-specific and needs-based participatory processes.
Establishment of a Grätzl Lab: The goal is to bundle already existing neighborhood networks and offerings in the Grätzl (spaces, activities, initiatives) and, in the course of the process, to design and operate a vacant space as a Grätzl Lab space for creative uses (innovative classroom design, after-school care, intergenerational learning, and more).

Benefits:
With this innovation lab, user-centered spaces for thinking, acting and designing, which have been missing in existing structures so far, are developed in a participatory way, implemented as a model and tested. The resulting synergies and concrete spatial offers have direct benefits for the surrounding schools and also for other interested groups in the Grätzl, as they are designed to be accessible in a low-threshold, transparent and non-discriminatory manner. With the experience gained through the ongoing operation and within the framework of innovation projects, further locations can be activated for innovation projects.
