Systemtechnik von Luftfahrzeugen

Projektbeschreibung

Die Luftfahrtindustrie Österreichs ist durch wenige OEM´s für Flächenflugzeuge und Kleinsthubschrauber sowie durch eine sehr heterogene Zulieferindustrie geprägt. Dies wird auch durch die Mitgliederstruktur der Austrian Aeronautics Industries Group (AAI) deutlich. Es gibt derzeit an den österreichischen Universitäten keine Professuren und Strukturen, die dieser heterogenen Prägung in der Industrie entsprechen und als Lehr- und Forschungspartner agieren.
Die geplante Professur für die Systemtechnik von Luftfahrzeugen soll dieser Struktur gerecht werden. Sie soll sowohl für die OEM´s als auch für die Zulieferindustrie hochqualifizierte IngenieurInnen ausbilden und in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Industrie neue Systeme und Lösungen sowohl im Flächenfliegerbereich als auch im Bereich der Drehflügler entwickeln; dazu gehören zunehmend auch hybride Konzepte und unbemannte Fluggeräte. Damit wird man in der universitären Lehre und Forschung der positiven Entwicklung der Luftfahrtindustrie in Österreich gerecht. Dabei soll die Professur sehr stark instituts- und fakultätsübergreifend wirken. Dazu soll sie an der Fakultät für Maschinenwesen am Institut für Konstruktionswissenschaften und Technische Logistik am Forschungsbereich Maschinenelemente realisiert werden; dieser Forschungsbereich arbeitet selbst auf dem Gebiet der Luftfahrtgetriebe und der Flugrettung und verfügt über eine adäquate Forschungs- und Labor-Infrastruktur. Weiters vertritt der Forschungsbereich die TU Wien in der Austrian Aeronautics Industries Group (AAI) und Österreich im International Forum for Aviation Research (IFAR); innerhalb von IFAR leitet der Forschungsbereich die Initiative Vertical Lift, die mit 15 Nationen an zukünftigen Drehflüglern arbeitet, was einen starken Bezug zu Luftfahrzeugsystemen hat. Innerhalb der TU Wien moderiert das Institut die fakultätsübergreifende Arbeitsgruppe Luftfahrt. Schließlich vertritt der Bereich Österreich in einer Arbeitsgruppe von ACARE (Advisory Council for Aviation Research in Europe).
Mit der Themenwahl der Systemtechnik für Luftfahrzeuge soll weiters dieser Bereich besonders gestärkt werden, da er momentan ausschließlich über Zusammenarbeiten mit internationalen Organisationen wie dem DLR in Deutschland abgedeckt wird.
Mit der Professur soll an der TU Wien ein national und international sichtbarer Schwerpunkt für Luftfahrzeugsysteme geschaffen werden, der die vorhandenen Lehr- und Forschungsaktivitäten bündelt und stärkt und Forschung und Industrie enger miteinander verbindet. Für die TU Wien entsteht so eine starke Position in dem anspruchsvollen Bereich der Luftfahrt.
Weiters soll ein Lehrangebot (Curriculum) geschaffen werden, das neben der fachlichen Ausbildung auch die besonderen Rahmenbedingungen hinsichtlich des Luftrechts und der Vorgaben für Entwicklung, Herstellung, Betrieb und Instandhaltung in der Luftfahrt vermittelt.

Abstract

The Aviation Industry in Austria consists of a few OEM´s for Fixed Wing Aircraft and small helicopters and of a lot of suppliers which serve very different fields. This is also represented by the members structure of the Austrian Aeronautics Industries Group (AAI). At the moment, no austrian university has professorships and structures which serve these needs of the aviation industry.
The planned professorship for aircraft systems intends to build up such a structure which educates students in the fields required by industry and to invent and develop in close collaboration with aviation industry new systems and solutions both for fixed wing aircraft as well as for rotorcraft. So-called hybrid concepts and unmanned aerial vehicles will also be covered. This corresponds to the constant growth of this industry sector in the last years. The professorship therefore will link institutes and different faculties of TU Wien close together. It is intended to realize the professorship at the faculty of mechanical engineering at the Institute for Engineering Design and Logistics Engineering in the research division for machine design; this research area works in the fields of transmissions for aviation and air rescue and has a suitable research and laboratory infrastructure. The research division represents TU Wien in the Austrian Aeronautics Industries Group (AAI) und Austria in the International Forum for Aviation Research (IFAR); within IFAR it leads the initiative Vertical Lift where 15 nations work on future rotorcraft. This is a topic which has already a close link to aircraft systems. Within TU Wien, the institute organizes the working group aviation with institutes of different faculties. Furthermore, it represents Austria in a working group of ACARE (Advisory Council for Aviation Research in Europe).
With the focus on aircraft systems, the professorship shall strengthen this field which at the moment is completely covered through collaboration with international research organizations like DLR in Germany..
The professorship shall lead to a nationally and internationally recognized focus for aircraft systems at TU Wien which links existing research capabilities and industry closer together. This shall lead to a strong position of TU Wien in this ambitious research field.
Furthermore, it is intended to realize teaching courses and studies which besides technical knowledge will teach the special legal rules and regulations for development, production, operation and maintenance of aircraft systems.
