Projektbeschreibung

Der Produktionstechnik kommt eine herausragende Stellung bei der Transformation der heute vorwiegend linearen Wirtschaftsweise hin zu einer nachhaltigen, digital vernetzten und menschzentrierten Zukunft zu. Für die österreichische Volkswirtschaft spielt die sachverarbeitende Industrie aus diesem Grund eine herausragende Rolle und ist direkt für ca. 20% des BIP und der Arbeitsplätze sowie indirekt für eine Vielzahl von nachgelagerten Wertschöpfungsaktivitäten (wie produktbegleitende Dienstleistungen) sowie den Hauptteil der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsausgaben verantwortlich.
Forschung und Entwicklung im Bereich der Produktionstechnik findet traditionell im engen Schulterschluss der Industrie mit der universitären Forschung statt.
Die Österreichische Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Produktionstechnik (ÖWGP) vereint die über Ihre Mitglieder die maßgeblichen VertreterInnen der österreichischen Produktionstechnikforschung sowie deren akademische Institutionen. Sie wirkt in die Fachöffentlichkeit durch Kommunikation und Information (bspw. über die Homepage, Veranstaltungen und Öffentlichkeitarbeit), betreibt Aktivitäten der Strategieentwicklung sowie des Horizon Scanning im Bereich der Produktionstechnik, stärkt die nationale Vernetzung und den Wissens- bzw. Technologietransfer im akademischen Bereich aber auch an der Schnittstelle zur Industrie und bringt eine gemeinsame Position der österreichischen Produktionstechnik in die internationalen Fachcommunities ein.
Die Ziele des Projektvorhabens und Arbeitsprogramm der ÖWGP für die beantragte Projektphase 2024 bis 2026 leiten sich wie folgt ab:
1. Aktualisierung und Erweiterung der Homepage sowie Aufbau und Pflege eines ÖWGP-LinkedIn-Kanals und aktive Teilnahme am FTI-Beirat des BMK sowie den Technologiegesprächen.
2. Konzeption und Durchführung einer über die ÖWGP-Standorte (Wien, Graz, Leoben, Linz, Innsbruck) und -Mitglieder koordinierte Diskussionsreihe Wissenschaft trifft Industrie zum Themenschwerpunkt "Future of Production" sowie Dokumentation als Sammelband.
3. Ausbau der Kontakte zu gleichen (WGP) und fachnahen Communities wie CIRP, IEEE, ACM, IALF, WGP, WGAB, WGMHI u.a. über die ÖWGP-Mitglieder.
4. Ausschreibung und Vergabe des ÖWGP-Zukunftspreises sowie Sensibilisierungskampagne/Workshops für das Thema „Produktion/Produktionstechnik“ für 10-14-Jährige.
5. Durchführung eines jährlichen Doktoratskolloquiums sowie Ausschreibung und Vergabe der ÖWGP-Doktoratspreise sowie Verbreiterung der aktiven ÖWGP-Community durch Aktivierung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses.

Durch das gegenständliche Projekt wird die Rolle der Produktionstechnik als zentraler Enabler der Gestaltung einer nachhaltigen Wertschöpfung gestärkt und insbesondere der vorurteilsfreie und technologieoffene Innovationsansatz gefördert. Weiters werden gemeinsam relevante Anliegen und Gestaltungsoptionen der Produktionstechnik kanalisiert in den öffentlichen Diskurs eingebracht. Somit wird wissenschaftlich gestützt und durch die facheinschlägige Community unterstützt Treffsicherheit und Wirksamkeit der FTI-Förderung abgesichert. Etwaige unsichere und kontroverse Fachthemen können im Dialog mit der ÖWGP priorisiert und diskutiert werden. Dies ermöglicht die konzertierte Umsetzung von Innovationsmaßnahmen zur Transformation des heute vorherrschenden linearen Prinzips der Wertschöpfung hin zu nachhaltigen Konzepten.

Abstract

Production technology has an outstanding role to play in the transformation of today's predominantly linear economy towards a sustainable, digitally networked and human-centered future. For this reason, the manufacturing industry plays an outstanding role in the Austrian economy and is directly responsible for around 20% of GDP and jobs as well as indirectly for a large number of downstream value-added activities (such as product-related services) and the majority of research and development expenditure.
Research and development in the field of production technology traditionally takes place in close cooperation between industry and university research.
The Austrian Scientific Society for Production Engineering (ÖWGP) unites the leading representatives of Austrian production engineering research and their academic institutions through its members. It has an impact on the specialist public through communication and information (e.g. via the homepage, events and public relations work), carries out strategy development and horizon scanning activities in the field of production technology, strengthens national networking and the transfer of knowledge and technology in the academic sector but also at the interface with industry and brings a common position of Austrian production technology to the international specialist communities.
The objectives of the project and the ÖWGP's work program for the proposed project phase 2024 and 2026 are derived as follows
1. updating and expanding the homepage as well as setting up and maintaining an ÖWGP LinkedIn channel and active participation in the RTI advisory board of the BMK and the technology discussions.
2. conception and implementation of a discussion series coordinated by the ÖWGP locations (Vienna, Graz, Leoben, Linz, Innsbruck) and members on the topic of “Future of Production” and documentation as an anthology.
3. expansion of contacts to the same (WGP) and related communities such as CIRP, IEEE, ACM, IALF, WGP, WGAB, WGMHI and others via the ÖWGP members.
4. announcement and awarding of the ÖWGP Future Prize and awareness-raising campaign/workshops on the topic of “production/production technology” for 10-14 year olds.
5. organization of an annual doctoral colloquium as well as announcement and awarding of the ÖWGP doctoral prizes and broadening of the active ÖWGP community by activating young scientists.
This project will strengthen the role of production technology as a key enabler in shaping sustainable value creation and, in particular, promote an unbiased and technology-neutral approach to innovation. Furthermore, jointly relevant concerns and design options of production technology will be channeled into the public discourse. This provides scientific backing and is supported by the specialist community to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of RTI funding. Any uncertain and controversial specialist topics can be prioritized and discussed in dialogue with the ÖWGP. This enables the concerted implementation of innovation measures to transform the currently prevailing linear principle of value creation into sustainable concepts.
