OFF-WEGO - Mobile Networks Bridge

Projektbeschreibung

Der gemeinsame Wunsch aller professionellen und nicht-professionellen Nutzer ist eine zuverlässige und sichere Kommunikation. Off-Wego ist eine einzigartige patentierte drahtlose Ad-hoc-Kommunikationstechnologie. Sie ermöglicht den Benutzergruppen die direkte Kommunikation ohne Netzwerkinfrastruktur. Jedes Off-Wego-Gerät kann auch als Repeater fungieren und so ein dynamisches, mobil aufgebautes Ad-hoc-Mesh-Netzwerk mit unbegrenzter Reichweite schaffen. Viele professionelle Organisationen (Versorgungsunternehmen, Rettungsdienste usw.) verfügen nicht über eigene Netzwerke, sondern nutzen öffentliche Netzwerke als Hauptkommunikationsnetzwerk. Allerdings agieren diese professionellen Dienste oft an den Grenzen der Netzwerkabdeckung. Die Kommunikationstechnologie von Off-Wego ist perfekt auf ihre Kommunikationsanforderungen während der Einsätze abgestimmt. Um mit dem über das öffentliche Netzwerk erreichbaren Kommunikationszentrale kommunizieren zu können, ist ein Bridge erforderlich, welches die Kommunikation mit Benutzern innerhalb des öffentlichen Netzwerks aus dem Off-Wego Netzwerk ermöglicht. Im Rahmen dieses Projekts wollen wir dieses Off-Wego - Mobile Networks Bridge entwerfen.

Endberichtkurzfassung

During this project we designed, developed and built an OMN Bridge: an OFF-WEGO - Mobile Networks Bridge prototype. This device enables seamless interconnection between OFF-WEGO ad hoc network and public mobile networks communication systems.

OFF-WEGO is fully infrastructure independent communication system which enables communication also in areas without any public network coverage. Mobile networks are at the other side infrastructure based communication systems with base stations and mobile terminals. OMN Bridge enables the interconnection of the OFF-WEGO ad hoc network, established between its users in specific area of action and at the same time with users within the public mobile network. On this way it is possible to include remote headquarters during the actions into the communication and achieve much better team coordination and efficiency. OMN Bridge supports both - real time voice and messaging communication.

Availability of the OMN Bridge makes it possible to use OFF-WEGO communication technology and its unique advantages for the communication in the field and at the same time still be able to communicate with all other users available on public mobile network.
