DOCK for Change! – Innovationslabor für Klimafragen

Unsere Motivation: Veränderung!

Die Bewältigung der Klimakrise ist eine der größten Herausforderungen unserer Zeit. Um nachfolgenden Generationen einen lebenswerten Planeten zu hinterlassen, braucht es gesellschaftlichen Wandel, der nur gelingt, wenn Politik, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft, Bildungsinstitutionen und Zivilgesellschaft gemeinsam agieren.

Mit dem „DOCK for Change! Innovationslabor für Klimafragen“ starten wir einen co-kreativen Lernprozess und verbinden Klimabildung, Demokratiebildung, Wissenschaftsvermittlung und Entrepreneurship Education auf einzigartige Weise. Im Zentrum stehen die Anliegen und Ideen von Kindern und Jugendlichen. Unterstützt durch Wissenschafts- und Wirtschafts-Akteur*innen suchen sie nach Lösungen zum Schutz des Planeten und unserer Zukunft angesichts des Klimawandels.
Wir wollen ins Tun kommen! Wir wollen Veränderung initiieren! Wir sind die „Change Agents“, die „Competent Rebels“ und die „Mutmachpartner*innen“, die zeigen, wie es gehen kann! Mit dieser positiven Haltung loten wir Möglichkeiten für umwelt- und klimaschonendes Handeln aus und tragen die Erkenntnisse aus dem Innovationslabor nach außen: „Wir verändern die Welt! Machst du mit?“

Unser Ziel: Ermächtigen!

Mit „DOCK for Change!“ stärken wir junge Menschen in ihrem Bewusstsein als „Competent Rebels“: Fundiert und kompetent, mutig und fantasievoll gehen sie drängenden Fragen auf den Grund und entwickeln clevere Ideen für die Zukunft. Dazu experimentieren wir mit unterschiedlichen Partizipationsformaten, fördern kritische Forschung, vermitteln digitale und demokratiepolitische Kompetenzen und unterstützen beim Sichtbarmachen und Verbreiten von Ideen und Erkenntnissen.

DOCK for Change! wird zu einem Innovationslabor für Methoden- und Materialentwicklung entwickelt uns lädt 15.000 Lehramtsstudierende der Universität Wien ein, im Zuge des „Future Teachers' Award“ innovative, unterrichtskompatible Formate der Klimabildung zu entwickeln.

Unser Weg: Gemeinsam!

Komplexe Herausforderungen brauchen interdisziplinäre Lösungen. Es gilt, gemeinsam und voneinander zu lernen! Daher baut „DOCK for Change!“ auf einem agilen, co-kreativen Prozess auf, der sich nach dem Zyklus eines Schuljahres richtet und für alle Beteiligten zum Teil der Lernerfahrung wird.
100 Change Agents (Kinder von 8 bis 14 Jahren) legen im Themenlabor und in Fokusgruppen mit Mutmachpartner*innen aus Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft das Schwerpunktthema für das Schuljahr fest und geben dem Innovationslabor einen Klimaschutzbildungsauftrag für das ganze Jahr.
Dem gesetzten Thema wird in unterschiedlichen Formaten nachgegangen: Zukunftswerkstätten (Workshops), Future Clubs (offene Formate), Change Factories (Ferienwochen) und Mut Talks (Veranstaltungsreihe) sollen im vollen Ausbau mehr als 4.000 Kinder und Jugendliche jährlich erreichen. Sie stehen in lebendigem Austausch mit Impulsgeber*innen und Mentor*innen aus Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft, den Mutmachpartner*innen.

Unsere Erkenntnisse … tragen wir weiter!

Am Ende des Schuljahres präsentieren die 100 Change Agents bei der DOCK for Change! Konferenz, die Erkenntnisse, Erfindungen und Ideen des Arbeitsjahres und diskutieren diese mit Vertreter*innen aus Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Politik. Mutmachpartner*innen teilen Praktiken und Visionen, Future Teacher stellen ihre Bildungsideen vor.

Der abschließende "DOCK for Change! Report" wird von den rund 4.000 Competent Rebels des Jahres und allen beteiligten Partner*innen in die Welt getragen. Das gebündelte Know-How und die erprobten Methoden werden in unserem weitreichenden Bildungs-Netzwerk geteilt, um die „DOCK for Change!“ Idee im Austausch mit Bildungs- und Strategiepartner*innen im In- und Ausland qualitativ und quantitativ weiterzuentwickeln und langfristig zu verankern.

DOCK for Change! - Innovation lab for climate issues

Our motivation: Change!

Tackling the climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time. In order to leave a livable planet to future generations, change is needed, which will only succeed if politics, business, science, educational institutions and civil society act together.

With the "DOCK for Change! Innovation Lab for Climate Issues" initiative we are launching a co-creative learning space, a process combining climate education, democracy education, science education and entrepreneurship education in a unique way. The focus is on the concerns and ideas of children and young people. Supported by scientific researchers and other knowledge providers from various fields of practice, they search for solutions to protect the planet and our future in the face of climate change.

We want to get into action! We will initiate change! We are the "Change Agents", the "Competent Rebels" and the "Encouragement Partners" who show how it can be done!

With this positive attitude, we explore possibilities for environmentally and climate-friendly action and take the findings from the innovation lab to the outside world: "We are changing the world! Will you join us?"

Our goal: Empowerment!

With "DOCK for Change!" we want to strengthen young people in their awareness as "Competent Rebels": Well-founded and competent, courageous and imaginative, they get to the bottom of pressing issues and develop clever ideas for the future.
To this end, we experiment with different participation formats, promote critical research, teach digital and democracy skills, and support the visualization and dissemination of ideas and findings.

The DOCK also positions itself as an innovation lab for method and material development and invites 15,000 student teachers at the University of Vienna to rethink educational concepts and develop innovative, classroom-compatible formats of climate education and propose their ideas within the framework of a "Future Teachers' Award”. These are made available for broad use at the end of a school year.

How we do it: Together!

Complex challenges require interdisciplinary solutions. It is important to learn together and from each other! That's why "DOCK for Change!" is built on an agile, co-creative process that follows the cycle of a school year and becomes part of the learning experience for everyone involved.

100 change agents (children aged 8 to 14) determine the main topic for the school year in the "Theme Lab" and in "Focus Groups", giving the innovation lab a climate education mission for the entire year.

The Topic of the year is pursued in different formats: "Future Workshops" (workshops), "Future Clubs" (open formats), "Change Factories" (vacation weeks) and "Courage Talks" (series of events) reach 4,000 children and young people every year. They engage in a lively exchange with inspirers and mentors from science and business, the "Encouragement Partners".

We pass on our findings ... to others!

At the end of the school year, the 100 Change Agents present the findings, inventions and outcomes of the working year at the "DOCK for Change! Conference" and discuss them with representatives from business, science and politics. "Encouragement partners" share practices and visions, "Future Teachers" present their educational ideas. The final "DOCK for Change! Report" will be published by the 4,000 "Competent Rebels" of the year and all partners involved.

The bundled know-how and the tested methods are shared in our far-reaching education network in order to promote the "DOCK for Change!" idea in exchange with educational and strategic partners at home and abroad and to anchor it in the long term, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
