Abstract
The intention of the VOLTLABOR IPCEI project is to realize a highly automated, cutting edge battery-pack production that serves as lighthouse for innovative/flexible and regional production of outstanding products in a high-cost country in the heart of Europe.
The key objectives behind VOLTHACK can be differentiated along 4 dimensions:
(1) PRODUCT INNOVATION/INDUSTRIALIZATION: Outstanding product-features with an unrivalled technological advantage regarding (1) safety (2) reliability and (3) ecologic friendliness.
(2) VOLTFACTORY: Network based/regional production: Benchmark setting, flexible, decentralized production facility that can be integrated into existing production networks easily within a limited time (<6 months). Main purpose is a less centralized/CO2 intensive production network - instead of giga-factories.
(3) AUTOMATIZATION: highest industrial standards regarding automatization, AI and robotic integration. One of the key feature to realize a competitive advantage in automatization is a cutting edge production system called VOLTJET.
(4) OPEN-SOURCE CHARACTER: The VOLTHACK project should lead to a place that serves as a center for intelligent production, space for educational projects, and co-working space for professionals/experts in related industries (e.g., artificial intelligence programming) to facilitate spillover-effects into other industries/regions and professions.
