Projektbeschreibung

Condition Monitoring, Tracking and Tracing, Ladegutsicherung, Automatisierung bei Be-, Entladen, Diebstahlsicherung durch Verschlüsselung).

Abstract

The project "DigiPharmaLogNet" is a pilot network in pharmaceutical logistics, which has very specific requirements. Pharmaceuticals require, among other things, demonstrable compliance with specific environmental conditions at high delivery frequencies at many delivery locations. The complex logistics requirements necessitate solutions that favor automation and meet the specific requirements at the product level.

The aim of the project is to achieve a fundamental improvement with the help of digitally supported reusable transport items (RTI): self-organizing RTI equipped with sensors that ensure transport conditions (temperature, etc.) and enable fundamental automation of data management and thus optimization of the supply chain. RTI save packaging material, digitally initiated dynamic control at RTI-level - instead of at vehicle level - optimizes transport routes, among other things, and physical and digital assistance systems reduce the workload of employees.

The project builds on already developed components (modular RTI, shelf system, database, App). A complementary consortium will develop solutions for problems in the process flow and determine reliable cost and process data. Pilot use cases and the implementation of proof of concept demonstrators are an integral part of the project. By applying Internet-of-Things sensor technology and Artificial Intelligence approaches, the optimization potentials of digitalization in pharmaceutical logistics are identified and realized.

The design of the RTI favors the automation of logistics and enables functionalities that classic cardboard boxes or plastic crates are not capable of (e.g. condition monitoring, tracking and tracing, load security, automation during loading and unloading, theft protection through encryption). The result is a future oriented business model for digitally supported, self-organizing reusable transport carrier systems for an industry-wide roll-out, with the potential to revolutionize pharmaceutical logistics in Austria and beyond:

By integrating pharmaceutical logistics companies with different activities, it will be possible to map and optimize the entire supply chain from the pharmaceutical producer to the wholesaler to the end consumer (pharmacy, hospital) in the pilot project. In this way, both areas that previously worked primarily with cardboard and parts of pharmaceutical logistics that currently deliver with simple plastic boxes will be organized into a supply chain with a common packaging standard. Thus, this project lays the foundation for digitization and automation of pharmaceutical logistics and beyond.
