Projektbeschreibung

Abstract

Quantum computers (QC) are amongst the most prominent new technologies that are currently being researched. The transition from pure research into real world applications is the focus of a large ongoing research effort in academia and industry. Quantum devices that can be tested now, or in the near future, are needed to facilitate this transition. The first such platform is the Quantum Simulator (QS) developed in Europe by the french company PASQAL. The most promising applications for QC and QS are currently hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, requiring access to HPCs (High Performance Computer). Here, classical algorithms are combined with quantum processing steps, for example in quantum optimisation, machine learning, or variational quantum algorithms. The goal of the project HPCQS is to acquire a quantum simulator from PASQAL, integrate it into a HPC environment, and make it available to European end-users.
