COVID-19 Schnelltest zur Erhebung des Immunstatus und zum gleichzeitigen Nachweis einer akuten Infektion
Die Früherkennung einer Infektion und eine verlässliche Information zum spezifischen Immunstatus, das sind die aktuellen und künftigen Herausforderungen für die Diagnostik vor dem Hintergrund der gegenwärtigen COVID-19 Pandemie.
Mit dem GENSPEED Testsystem haben wir eine markterprobte und zertifizierte Plattform, die als Basis zur Bewältigung diese Herausforderungen dienen kann. Ziel des vorliegenden Projektes ist die Entwicklung eines CE-zertifizierten Schnelltests der zum einen den Immunstatus aufgrund der vorhandenen Antikörper feststellt und zum anderen gleichzeitig eine akute Infektion detektiert. Beide Ergebnisse werden mit Hilfe der automatisierten, mobilen GENSPEED Technologie innerhalb von ca. 15 Minuten vorliegen.
Die Entwicklung soll in zwei Schritten erfolgen: zunächst wird ein Test zur Feststellung des Immunstatus („Covid19 IMMUNO“) entwickelt und klinisch getestet. Dieser Test soll bereits Anfang 2021 als in-vitro Diagnostikum (IVD) in der EU zugelassen werden. Zusätzlich wird in den 12 Projektmonaten ein neuer Testchip-Prototyp entwickelt, der gleichzeitig zum Immunstatus, auch den direkten Nachweis einer akuten Infektion über Detektion der viralen Antigene erlaubt („Covid19 COMPLETE“). Dieser völlig neuartige Testtypus soll in den Folgemonaten nach Projektabschluss vom Prototyp zum zugelassenen IVD weiterentwickelt werden. Das Testsystem wird außerdem so ausgelegt, dass es binnen kurzer Zeit an etwaige Veränderungen des Virus (Mutationen oder Auftreten neuer Stämme) angepasst werden kann.

Abstract

COVID-19 rapid test for the simultaneous determination of the immune status and detection of an acute infection
The reliable information on the specific immune status and the early recognition of an infection, these are the current and future challenges for diagnostics in the wake of the current COVID-19 pandemic. With the GENSPEED test system, we have a market-proven and certified platform that can serve as a basis for overcoming these challenges. The aim of the present project is the development of a CE-certified rapid test that allows the simultaneous detection of viral antibodies as well as virus particles on site and in laboratory quality. Both results will be available within about 15 minutes using the automated, mobile GENSPEED technology.
The development will be done in two steps: first, a test for the determination of the immune status ("Covid19 IMMUNO") will be developed and clinically tested. This test should be approved as an in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) in the EU as early as the beginning of 2021.
In addition, a new test chip prototype will be developed during the 12 months project period, that will allow the direct detection of an acute infection by detection of the viral antigens ("Covid19 COMPLETE") in addition to the immune status. This completely new type of test is to be further developed from prototype to the approved IVD in the months following the completion of the project. The test system will be designed to allow the fast and easy adaptation to any changes of the virus (mutations or appearance of new strains).
