Projektbeschreibung

Abstract

Payr Engineering GmbH’s (Patergassen) proposal for project “PuMoPro_VD_Mask_20”, which was
submitted in response to the FFG’s “Emergency-Call for research into COVID-19 in response to the
Sars-CoV-2 outbreak”, has been approved for funding. The project is aimed at the development and
manufacture of protective masks (i.e., Personal Protective Equipment) of protection classes FFP 1-3
and was selected as one of 24 projects to receive funding from the FFG.
The innovative manufacturing technology used in the project is distinguished by the use of sustainable
raw materials (Nawaros). Envisioned is the integration of reliable inhalation and exhalation valves for
increased comfort, specifically as exchangeable elements of the mask, and the integration of eye
protection. Additionally, the mask can be sterilized at the necessary high temperature.
Payr Engineering GmbH has the specialist know-how, the experience in the planning and realization of
R&D projects, as well as the necessary infrastructure for the development and manufacture of
prototypes and devices. If all goes according to plan, the production of the prototype protective masks
will begin in the second quarter of 2020. The second half of the project will entail the development of
the manufacturing process to increase production.
