Projektbeschreibung

Abstract

New Control will develop a fail-operational virtual platform to realize cost-effective, efficient, robust perception and control in highly automated vehicles. The overarching objective of the project is to provide a roadmap towards increased user-acceptance of automated control functions via focusing on safety by design. To achieve this goal New Control will deliver a fail-operational platform for robust holistic perception applying sensor fusion using a combination of Lidar and Radar sensors. Additionally, a generalized virtual platform for stable and efficient control of propulsion systems is designed which consists of cost- and power-efficient, high-performance embedded computer platforms for in-vehicle perception, cognition, and control. Furthermore, robust approaches for implementing, verifying, and certifying automated control functions for safety-critical applications are investigated. Beside this New Control will also concentrate on predictive and reactive approaches addressing reliability and dependability in safety-critical automated systems. These innovations will leverage the expertise and contributions from partners along the complete semiconductor and automotive value chain, providing European industry with a competitive edge in a growing market for automated vehicles. The outcomes of this project will contribute towards achieving the European goal of zero-road fatalities by 2050.
