Smart Textiles Studie

Projektbeschreibung

Ziel dieser Studie ist die Erhebung von FTI Potenzialen im Bereich Smart Textiles und Erstellung einer Roadmap mit einem mittelfristigen Ausblick bis 2030. Fokus liegt dabei auf der Erarbeitung von Maßnahmenvorschlägen zur Stärkung der FTI Kapazitäten und Initiierung von nationalen und internationalen Kooperationsmöglichkeiten. Betrachtet werden soll sowohl die Perspektive der österreichischen Industrie (Anbieter und Anwender), als auch der relevanten Forschungsakteure sowie der österreichischen FTI Politik.
Basierend auf der Potenzialerhebung und Analyse von Wirtschaftsdaten werden Handlungsoptionen und schlussendlich die Roadmap für Österreich unter Einbindung relevanter Stakeholder erarbeitet. Thematisch werden die erarbeiteten Schlussfolgerungen potentielle Forschungsschwerpunkte im Bereich Smart Textiles beinhalten, in instrumenteller Hinsicht werden förderpolitischer Maßnahmen und Instrumente bezüglich Förderprogrammen, Aus- und Weiterbildung, gesetzlichen Maßnahmen, etc. in Hinblick auf ihre Relevanz und Bedeutung analysiert und dargestellt.
Das Projekt gliedert sich in vier Arbeitspakete:
Das erste Arbeitspaket besteht aus dem Projektmanagement, welches vor allem der effektiven und effizienten Abwicklung des Projekts sowie der Einbindung des Projektauftraggebers dient. Die weiteren Arbeitspakete umfassen kurz zusammengefasst die Abschätzung von nationalen und internationalen Wirtschaftsdaten bzw. Basisdaten im Bereich Smart Textiles sowie möglicher Beschäftigungspotenziale für den Standort Österreich (AP2 und AP3), die Identifikation und Analyse der bestehenden FTI Aktivitäten sowie der relevanten Akteure im Bereich „Smart Textiles Forschung“ (FTI Status Quo) (AP2), sowie die Identifikation und Analyse erfolgversprechender Markt- und Anwendungspotenziale (AP3). Weiters folgt die Beschreibung der Herausforderungen der Smart Textiles Forschung am Standort Österreich (AP3), eine Stärken- und Schwächenanalyse des österreichischen FTI Systems im Bereich Smart Textiles mit Fokus auf erfolgsversprechende Potenziale für den FTI Kapazitätsausbau (AP3 und AP4). Dies alles mündet letztendlich in die Erarbeitung einer F&E Roadmap für Smart Textiles sowie die Identifikation zielführender Interventions- und Unterstützungsmechanismen wie beispielsweise FTI Förderungen (AP4).
Methodisch setzt das Projekt auf eine Kombination von qualitativen und quantitativen Zugängen (Dokumentenanalyse, Bibliometrie, ExpertInneninterviews, Branchenworkshops) und eine breit angelegte Konsultationsphase in Kooperation mit bestehenden Technologieplattformen, Kompetenzzentren und Multiplikatoren aus Wirtschaft und Forschung.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify RTI potentials in the area of Smart Textiles and to establish a roadmap with a medium-term outlook up to 2030. The focus is on developing proposals for measures to strengthen RTI capacities and initiating national and international cooperation opportunities. The perspective of the Austrian industry (suppliers and users) as well as the relevant research actors and the Austrian RTI policy will be considered.
Based on the potential survey and analysis of economic data, options for action and finally the roadmap for Austria will be developed with strong involvement of relevant stakeholders. The conclusions drawn will include potential research priorities for Smart Textiles, and from an instrumental point of view, funding policy measures and instruments relating to funding programmes, training and higher education, legal measures and so on will be analysed and presented with regard to their relevance and significance.
The project is divided into four work packages:
The first work package consists of the project management, which serves above all the effective and efficient handling of the project as well as the integration of the project sponsor. The other work packages include the estimation of national and international economic data and basic data in the area of Smart Textiles (production Status Quo) and possible employment potentials for Austria (AP2 and AP3). Furthermore, the identification and analysis of existing RTI activities as well as relevant actors in the area of Smart Textiles Research (RTI Status Quo) (AP2) and following this the identification and analysis of promising market and application potentials (AP3). A description of the challenges of Smart Textiles research in Austria (AP3), an analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the Austrian RTI system in the field of Smart Textiles with a focus on promising potentials for RTI capacity expansion (AP3 and AP4), will result in the development of an R&D roadmap for Smart Textiles as well as the identification of target-oriented intervention and support mechanisms such as RTI funding (AP4).
Methodologically, the project focuses on a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches (document analysis, bibliometrics, expert interviews, industry workshops) including a broad consultation phase in cooperation with existing technology platforms, competence centres and multipliers from industry and research.
