Projektbeschreibung
Die Vision grüne Stadt ist in Österreich noch weit von einem adäquaten Realisierungsgrad entfernt, um langfristig Ziele der Klimawandelsicherheit (UHI, Starkregen, CO2 Ausstoß) und der sozialen Kohärenz (Gesundheit, Gesellschaft) erfüllen zu können.
Das Innovationslabor „GrünstattGrau“ stellt DIE österreichische Koordinations- und Kompetenzstelle für Bauwerksbegrünung dar, wird auf den Strukturen des Verbands für Bauwerksbegrünung Österreich aufgebaut, und als gemeinnützige GmbH entwickelt und betrieben.
GrünstattGrau setzt nicht nur ein Begrüntes Stadtquartier um, sondern durch den wechselseitigen Ansatz des Best Practice Sharings zwischen dem SanierungsZIELgebiet in Wien Innerfavoriten/Kretaviertel und den Synergiegebieten in Österreich (Graz, Linz, St. Pölten und Feldkirch) wird die (Bauwerks)begrünte Stadt auf ganz Österreich ausgerollt. Dahinter stehen über 300 NetzwerkpartnerInnen wie Unternehmen entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette, Forschungsinstitute, Verwaltung, Politik, Netzwerke, sowie BürgerInnen, die bereits in der Antragstellung eingebunden wurden.
GrünstattGrau bietet ein schlüsselfertiges Laborsystem inklusive funktionstechnischen Innovationsräumen, Technik und Mobiliar, Expertenteam, Tools, Methoden-Know-how, Event-Bespielung, Themen-Identifikation und Projekt-Begleitung für gemeinsames, interdisziplinäres Lernen und Entwickeln an.
Eine Vielzahl von angeschlossenen neuen Produktentwicklungen und Dienstleistungsinnovationen rund um Begrünungen ermöglicht eine österreichweite Aktivierung und gesellschaftliche Transformation. Der mobile Teil von GrünstattGrau (begrünte Teststrecke) geht in ganz Österreich auf Roadshow und ermöglicht Partizipationsprozesse. Dadurch wird eine Interaktion mit der Öffentlichkeit unter Einbindung der AkteurInnen in offenen Innovationsprozessen (Co-Creation) initiiert, welche zu verkürzten Iterationsprozessen von Technologienentwicklungen und Anwendungen mit hohem Akzeptanzniveau führen.
Entstehendes, neues Wissen und Know-How wird durch die vielseitigen Instrumente des Innovationslabors wieder zurück in das Netzwerk geleitet und kommt vordergründig den NetzwerkpartnerInnen zugute. Wettbewerbsvorteile und Wissensvorsprünge erreichen und behalten Unternehmen nicht mehr durch strikte Geheimhaltung, sondern in Zukunft verstärkt durch mehr gelebte Offenheit. Es geht um neue Stufen der nachhaltigen und langfristigen Zusammenarbeit um Österreich im Bereich grüne Innovationen für die Städte als Technologieführer zu positionieren. Die langfristige Sichtweise des Fortbestands von GrünstattGrau berücksichtigt, dass ein neues Produkt oder die Dienstleistung durch disruptive Innovationen auf ihren Nutzwert optimiert werden.
Abstract
Background
In 2050, approximately 75 % of the global population will live in cities. This implies an increase in sealing of soil and a reduction of green areas in cities, which leads to Urban Heat Islands and weather extremes like heat waves and heavy rainfalls.
A densification of urban green infrastructure is a good reason for climate change adaptation and mitigation processes supporting Green Infrastructure. There is a high social, economic and scientific potential in greening cities as a powerful green network.
The Green Living Lab „GRÜNSTATTGRAU – Innovations for Green Cities“ is the central unit for all raising issues about the future of urban environment, innovations and ideas for green cities.
Purpose of the Green Living Lab „GrünstattGrau“
The Green Living Lab is a central coordination unit for all activities targeting research dissemination and knowledge transfer, technical implementation knowledge, participation management and economic and social cooperation in connex with Green Infrastructure and nature based solutions. The goals of the project include a large scale demonstration testbed, the entirely green neighbourhood in Vienna, a moving Green Laboratory for a Roadshow and an Online Platform for Tools, Services and Technologies.
VfB (Austrian Green Roof and Living Wall Association) is founding an independent NPO Business Unit “Grünstattgrau gGmbh” to coordinate the Green Living Lab „GRÜNSTATTGRAU“ – Innovations for Green Cities“ in Austria. The network project is set for five years, including already over 300 partners in Austria and several international network supporters, for example the European Federation of Green Roof and Living Wall Associations and its national members.
The aim is to promote all levels of green on buildings through communication, demonstration projects, business incubators, law and policies activities – not only on national, but also on European level. The intention is to upscale and share the results with all partners in the European network (Knowledge Transfer).
We expect new impulses for the European network for exchange and cooperation with scientific and business partners, public institutions and administration units. The Green Living Lab represents a new approach for facilitation and multiplication of National, European and Global interests in fighting climate change.
