Projektbeschreibung
Abstract
Initial situation and problem definition:
Despite the positive development of e-mobility in recent years, scepticism among the population remains high and many arguments, which are now largely outdated, continue to dominate public debate. Children and young people are also increasingly confronted with negative views, for example through their parents, friends or acquaintances – a circumstance that inevitably has an impact on their choice of further education or later career and sometimes contributes to the existing shortage of skilled workers in the renewable energy sector.
Objectives and methods:
In order to prevent these developments, it is therefore necessary to take measures to teach children and young people about the positive aspects of the energy transition, especially e-mobility, at an early age and to make related careers in research, technology and innovation more attractive. The planned project therefore aims to
• provide young people with targeted information about and inspire them for research, technology and innovation in the field of renewable energies, especially electromobility,
• connect them with scientific institutions and innovative companies and offer them the opportunity to see and understand the advantages of electromobility in a practical way
• thereby counteracting long-outdated reservations and prejudices and turning school pupils into important multipliers of the mobility transition.
The following activities and sub-goals are planned to this end:
• Development of an interactive, practical workshop series (consisting of on-site activities, expeditions, networking activities and in-depth workshops) with different focal points in selected schools, including demonstrations of innovative solutions from research in the field of electromobility/bidirectional charging, and implementation in seven schools
• Development of an information platform for electromobility together with school pupils to inform and inspire young people beyond the project consortium about research, technology and innovation in the field of electromobility, thereby achieving a multiplier effect
• Excursions and networking opportunities between pupils and individual stakeholders (e.g. researchers, innovative companies) to provide practical insights into future-oriented professions and promote new collaborations between education, business and research, but also to provide new inspiration for teachers
• Implementation of at least seven in-depth projects at participating schools on selected research-relevant topics in the field of electromobility
The project consortium is supported by several climate and energy model regions as well as the Lower Austrian Education Advisory Service.
Expected results:
• At least 21 workshop days at participating schools (as well as at least 7 additional in-depth workshops) with a total of more than 420 pupils
• A fully developed and tested series of workshops for different age groups on the topic of ‘electromobility’ in the field of research, technology and innovation
• ‘weMobility’ training and further education platform developed jointly with pupils and companies, including prepared content that will remain available after the end of the project
