Projektbeschreibung

• Integration österreichischer Spitzenforschung in internationale F&E Arbeitsschwerpunkte

Abstract

The aim of the IEA Technology Collaboration Program Advanced Fuel Cells programme is to enhance the state of understanding of all contracting parties in the field of advanced fuel cells, through a co-ordinated programme of research, technology development and system analysis.
There is a strong emphasis on national and international information exchange through task meetings, workshops and reports. The work is undertaken on a task-sharing basis with each participating country providing an agreed level of effort over the period of the task.

The planned activities include:
• Performing and monitoring of R&D activities (including cost analysis for cells, stacks and systems)
• System and market analysis (including technological, economic and ecological aspects)
• Analysis of market and implementation barriers
• Reinforced disseminations activities (including newsletters, annual reports, workshops, specific reports on current issues, etc.).

The AFC Technology Collaboration Program has nine active annexes. These compromise three technology-based annexes (MCFC, SOFC and PEFC), four application-based annexes (stationary, transportation, portable applications, electrolysis), with the Systems Analysis Annex encompassing all these areas, and the Modelling Annex focusing on this specific area.

Currently 13 member countries are participating in the Technology Collaboration Program: Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Sweden, Switzerland, and USA. China was admitted to participate in the Technology Collaboration Program on Advanced Fuel Cells.

In this Technology Collaboration Program, the various activities are established in advance in a work program and will be processed task-shared. In periodic meetings results and future research activities will be discussed and elaborated.

The specific Austrian goals of this participation are defined as follows:
• Integration of Austrian cutting-edge RTD activities in international RTD emphasis
• International division of tasks and labour for high risk R&D and for capital intense demonstration projects
• Transfer of international know-how to (and in) Austria
• Promotion and mobilisation of Austrian applied and basic RTD (by gaining IEA know-how)
• Strengthening the competitiveness and internationalisation of the Austrian economy by increased RTD
