Projektbeschreibung

Abstract

Both small to medium sized (SME) and larger companies formulate strategies. If a company is doing well today, it doesn’t mean that the recently taken decisions or formulated strategies are the right ones. The basis for the success of today are the decisions and measures of the past years. The company must now where it stands, meaning that it knows about the internal strengths and weaknesses but also the external threats and weaknesses (in the market, industry, macro-environment. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) aims to abolish the past-oriented reporting and instead replace it with a new management system for strategic management. „If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it!“ An important aspect in each BSC is that each strategic objective is measured by certain key performance indicators (KPI) to monitor the degree of attainment. The BSC shall improve the achievement of objectives for the purpose of strategy implementation. The method is effective as the daily operations or operational measures are directly derived from the strategic objectives. solBSC should give SMEs the possibility to pursue this management approach, which is already implemented by more than a half of the large companies in Western Europe for years.

Also SMEs are required to continuously plan and implement strategies. When SMEs decide to pursue the BSC approach, they firstly do that with Microsoft Excel. This is a logical step as MS Excel is very flexible and cheap. Nevertheless, more and more companies consider to switch to a professional BSC software. Through the SaaS technology, solvistas wants to offer a flexible and open software that helps firms to implement the BSC approach efficiently and at low IT costs. With the first selling activities (telephone campaigns, personal presentations, webinars, events, demo presentations) we were not able to convince potential customers and the prototype showed some weaknesses. However, we know there are many firms who look for a suitable BSC software. In order to fulfil the customer requirements and to successfully commercialize solBSC, the software must be extended and modernized by some new innovative features. solBSC shall evolve into a corporate performance management system. With this funding solvistas wants to fix this weaknesses of solBSC and to transform solBSC to a marketable product.

With regard to a successful commercialization, regular telephone- and marketing campaigns, regular visits and personal presentations, webinars and events. Furthermore the own product website (incl. product videos), the existing newsletter system, social media and google marketplace shall serve as marketing instruments. The membership in the International Controller Association (ICV) helps to establish a Controller- and firm network.
