Projektbeschreibung
Das Projekt LACO-Wiki wird den aktuellen LACOVAL Prototyp zur Validierung von Landbedeckungsdaten in Geo-Wiki, einer Visualisierungs- und Crowdsourcingplattform, integrieren. Ziel ist es, eine frei zugängliche Validierungslösung bestehend aus standardisierten Validierungstools anzubieten. Die entstehende Plattform wird außerdem dazu verwendet werden, die auf freiwilliger Basis gesammelten Validierungsinformationen und Landbedeckungskarten als eine freie Datenbank für die Kalibrierung und Validierung von nationalen, regionalen und globalen Daten anzubieten. Das langfristige Ziel ist der Aufbau einer Community zur Landbedeckungsvalidierung rund um diese Plattform und Datenbank, die von der Zusammenarbeit mit Universitäten, nationalen Umweltorganisationen, kommerziellen Dienstleistern und internationalen Initiativen wie GOFC-GOLD und der Group on Earth Observation (GEO) lebt.
Abstract
The LACO-Wiki project will integrate the current LACOVAL (LAnd COver VALidation) software prototype for the validation of land cover data with Geo-Wiki, a visualization and crowdsourcing tool. The result will be an open access online validation platform offering standardized validation functionality. The platform will also be used to collect validation points and land cover maps contributed on a voluntary basis to produce an openly accessible repository for national, regional and global calibration and validation data as well as maps in the future. The long-term aim is to build a thriving land cover validation community around this proposed platform and database that will engage universities, national environmental agencies, commercial service providers and international initiatives such as GOFC-GOLD and the Group on Earth Observation (GEO).
